No, unfortunately not. We accept payments by card or cash in Icelandic krona (ISK).

There is a bank at Hvolsvöllur if you need to change Euros to ISK. It´s within 10 minutes walking distance from Base Camp.

For the unlikely case that you want to cancel your stay at Midgard Base Camp, our cancellation policies will apply.

If you are a individual traveller (1-9 people), the policy will depend on your booked rate. If you chose the fully flexible rate you will get a full refund if you cancel before 4PM the day before your arrival date. If you cancel after that time you will be charged for one night. If however you chose the non-refundable rate you will not get a refund in case you cancel.

Everything above 9 people, is considered as a group. In that case special policies, depending on group size, deposits etc. In that case please refer to the group contracts.

Of course we can help you with that if there is availability.

Yes. We love having events at Midgard Base Camp, private or public. We have hosted weddings, birthday parties and other celebrations. Contact us at sleep@midgard.is and we will start planning.

You can find all our events on our Facebook page. We host concerts, movie nights, karaoke nights, workshops, yoga classes and other interesting events for locals and travellers.

There is free high speed WI-FI in all rooms and in all communal areas.

The hot tub and sauna are always open from 4PM to 10PM or on request.

We have a washing machine and a dryer. You can by “coins” and detergents at the front desk.

Towels are provided in private rooms (double/twin rooms and family rooms). For guests in dorms, they are available for rent (500 ISK).

Our on-site company Midgard Adventure is a tour operator and travel agency. We have day tours with almost daily departures from Base Camp. We also offer multi-day tours. Our Midgard Adventure staff also gives free travel advice to all Base Camp guests.

The front door closes at 10PM but you can always go out and come in using your card in the side door.

Yes, if available. We rent out bicycles to Midgard Base Camp guests. We have fat-bikes and normal bikes.

You can bike around Hvolsvöllur (our town) and the surrounding area. It´s great fun! We can give you more information on where to go.

Check-in time: 4:00PM-9:30PM.

Check-out time: 8:00AM-10:00AM.

If the room is ready when you arrive early check-in is of course available. Please advise us in advance.

We will do our best to make late check-out possible when requested. Please contact us and we will see if it is possible.

Yes, if you have your luck and they appear in the sky.

When looking for Northern Lights it´s better not to have light pollution and since Hvolsvöllur is a tiny town with not so many lights it´s a great place to see Northern Lights. Your can even enjoy watching them from our rooftop hot tub if you like or have a short stroll away from the Base Camp where there are absolutely no lights.
