After a day out exploring, Midgard Restaurant & Bar invites you to share your adventure stories over a delicious meal in a casual, relaxed atmosphere. Midgard Restaurant serves Nordic food inspired by travel, both in Iceland and around the world. Expect freshly caught fish from the South Coast, pasture-raised Icelandic lamb and tasty plant-based dishes with potatoes from our neighboring town Þykkvibær and locally grown herbs.
We truly focus on offering produce from our local community and dishes made very much from scratch. Midgard is a local’s favorite, but it’s not just about the food, the vibe is inviting, cheerful and laid-back. It’s the ultimate spot for gathering with both new and old friends, where you can raise a toast with local craft beers and our Midgard cocktails, creating new memories together.
Midgard Restaurant & Bar is located in Hvolsvöllur, a paradise for nature, adventure and the Northern Light, right in the heart of South Iceland and serving as the gateway to the highlands.

Midgard Restaurant is located in a small town called Hvolsvöllur in South Iceland. Midgard Restaurant is a great option when exploring Iceland’s south coast. We are located just 800 m from the ring road and we have plenty of free parking. Our address is Dufþaksbraut 14, 860 Hvolsvöllur.

We know how important breakfast is, especially when travelling. That’s why we offer our guests a tasty and traditional Icelandic breakfast buffet for a great value. Make sure you try our home-made bread, jam and muesli with cranberries and nuts!

Take-away lunchboxes and barbecues
Make your life easier and order take-away lunchboxes during your trip to south Iceland. You don’t need to stay at Midgard Base Camp to order lunchboxes. You order them by sending us an e-mail to sleep@midgard.is and then you drop by in the morning of the day you go out exploring. Psss….just between you and us, our sandwiches are way better than the sandwiches bought at the gasoline station. We promise!
